Proposed fiscal year 2020 budget will leave us vastly under funded!
The Governors Office has released his proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2020. We feel that his Chapter 70 (School Aid) proposal will be devastating to rural school systems statewide. Under the Governors proposed budget for Clarksburg School, Chapter 70 aid increases by 2/1000ths of 1% (0.00203).
Clearly, this will have negative effects on the sustainability of rural schools in the Commonwealth for years to come. To just keep up with inflation, we would need a 2.2% increase. So the net effect will be a decrease in funding.
We respectfully request you write to The Governors Office, and the Legislative Leadership in support of legislation drafted by Senator Adam Hinds for Rural School funding filed as bill#SD2292.
